Trump and NFT in the spotlight as US elections approach: ‘We’ve made NFTs hot again!’
- Trump hosted a dinner for supporters who purchased his NFT collections.
- Trump said he is “fine” with crypto and ready to end US hostility in the sector.
On Wednesday, the former US president took a break from his ongoing trial and hosted a dinner at his Florida home for crypto enthusiasts, especially buyers of Trump NFTs.
Reportedly, dinner attendees were supporters who purchased at least 47 Trump NFTs (at $99 each).
At dinner, the former president emphasized that Trump’s NFTs have heated up NFTs again, stating what,
“We did this when NFTs were not in vogue. And we make NFTs hot again.”
Trump has been active on the NFT scene, recording $100,000 to $1 million according to his 2022 financial report statements. The Mugshot Edition of his mugshot from last year was one of the viral Trump-themed NFTs.
The recent editionTrump Digital Trading Cards, which were also minted in Bitcoin [BTC] Ordinals last month sold out quickly, bringing in a huge amount US$4.6 million within 2 hours.
Trump: NFT for Crypto Donation?
Given his first-hand experience in the industry, Trump maintained a pro-crypto stance and told dinner attendees that he is Open for crypto donations to your campaign.
However, Trump took a slide at President Joe Biden for not knowing what encryption is. Mentioning that Gensler and Democrats are against it, the former president reiterated that he was “fine” with encryption.
When asked about the hostility directed at US crypto companies, Trump he said,
“Crypto is leaving the US because of hostility. Let’s stop this because I don’t want this. If we want to accept it, we have to let them be here.”
Most crypto market observers and industry titans have heated to Trump’s presidential bid and other crypto-friendly lawmakers amid heightened enforcement actions in the space.
However, some Market watchers took Trump’s pro-crypto stance with caution, citing his last term with zero results for crypto.
“Trump is a fucking clown, and so are you if you think he actually cares about crypto.”
