This week in Crypto Games: More Telegram games launch TON tokens, parallel successes from Epic Games

Cryptocurrency and NFTs The gaming space is busier than ever lately, with major games starting to release, coin drops piling up, and a seemingly constant array of other things happening all the time. There’s a lot to take in!

The biggest news

More Telegram games on TON: As Telegram-based games Notcoin and Hamster Kombat take over the crypto gaming world, two new challengers enter the chat. Tapswap and Yescoin are two simple games playable via mini apps on the Telegram messaging platform, and now both are planning to launch tokens on The Open Network (TON). And yes, before you ask, they both replicate or riff on the clicker concept.

Tapswap, which has about 50 million players, previously offered Solana wallet integration, but said Thursday it will will eventually launch on TON Instead. Yescoin, which sees a slight twist on the clicker genre where you swipe rather than tap, also announced that it will release a token on TON, after attracting 18 million users in just over a month.

Parallel on Epic: Competitive card game Parallel is now in front of a monthly audience of 75 million active users coming soon to the Epic Games Store. DD‘S Game of the Year 2023 launched onto the major PC gaming market last week after entering open beta earlier this year.

The competitive trading card game is built around minted NFTs Ethereum AND Layer 2 scaling network base, although it also includes non-tokenized game cards. Players who download the free-to-play game from the Epic Games Store can unlock five additional “Appearance Packs” with non-NFT cards.

Game tokens dropped badly: While the cryptocurrency market bleeds, the gaming segment has suffered somewhat worst victims in the last week. Gaming tokens tend to be highly volatile, like meme coins, partly due to the fact that the crypto gaming market is still relatively nascent. And last week, top tokens tied to gaming projects achieved some of the biggest successes of all, with notable projects like Guardian Guild (GOG), Parallel (PRIME) e Xai (XAI) seeing notable price drops.

  • Oh, and Hamster Kombat said this on Friday now has 150 million players before the token launch.
  • Digital avatar startup Ready Player Me is bringing avatars to Ubisoft’s Just Dance VR. However, it’s unclear whether NFTs will be included, and Ubisoft and RPM have yet to confirm either way.
  • High seas adventure RPG Pirate Nation launched its PIRATE token on Ethereum last week and is trading on Coinbase.
  • Hamster Kombat may be teasing a pre-market trading feature ahead of the tokens’ expected launch July. The game has added a special pre-market trading card in the exchange’s CEO simulation game, but it’s not yet clear whether the actual feature will follow.
  • Uniswap Labs has acquired Crypto: The Game ahead of its third season.
  • Another Telegram game, Catizen, said this last week has reached 15 million players.
