The Stormtrooper scandal analysis – when Damien Hirst, Star Wars and NFTs collide
Not often, but just occasionally, I thank my lucky stars that I’m behind the curve in life. I barely understood what non-fungible tokens (NFTs) were when they first emerged, much less dreamed of investing in them. After watching the bizarre disaster described in The Stormtrooper Scandal (BBC2), I’m grateful. This was an epic story of greed, naivety, betrayal and digital gold. They were the emperor’s new clothes soaked in snake oil.
What was perhaps unusual about this documentary was that art curator Ben Moore, the architect of the titular “scandal,” agreed to be interviewed – at length. This was a bit like participating in his own downfall, contributing to a film that, if he watched it, he would have heard himself being
