The next Notcoin? Telegram-based game “Hamster Kombat” will launch on TON
Hamster Kombat, the latest in a growing line of crypto games that have been released on the popular messaging app Telegram, is set to launch a token on The open network (TONNE).
The cryptocurrency management simulation game claims to have amassed 60 million users since its launch in March. It has the second largest Telegram channel with 20 million subscribers Telegram channels—that’s 13 million more subscribers Not moneyyour own community.
Telegram games have had a recent surge in popularity following the success of Not money, a social clicker game that rewards players with tokens for touching the screen. The game has garnered 35 million players in three months and recently launched its NOT token which was this year’s the largest gaming token launch yet.
More recently, Tapos, a similar click-to-earn game, has aided the layer-1 blockchain Aptos documentation over 115 million transactions in one day—thanks to the game recording each click as a transaction.
Hamster Kombat takes the premise of the Telegram-based clicker and evolves it. You take on the role of CEO at a cryptocurrency exchange, trying to grow your empire. When you start, all you do is tap to get points, but soon you’ll be able to use your currency to buy things that will further your trade. For example, in the game, you can create a YouTube channel, go on Joe Rogan’s podcast, or host a “special hamster conference” that will passively earn you points.
Being another “tap to earn” game, it’s likely that points earned in the game can eventually be converted into tokens. It has not yet been confirmed whether this will happen alongside the launch of the token.
Notcoin also launched its token on The Open Network and the resulting massive airdrop saw NOT surpass a Market capitalization of $1 billion— placing it among the top 100 assets according to the same parameter CoinGecko.
Now, a month later, Hamster Kombat is preparing to launch its own token with nearly three times more Telegram subscribers than Notcoin. While the game has announced plans to launch a token on The Open Network, it has not yet revealed when exactly that will happen.
