Latest Meme Coin Sensations

According to many industry players, the cryptocurrency market has been on the rise since the start of the year. Bitcoin (BTC) reached a new all-time high of over $73,500 in mid-March, while Ethereum (ETH) briefly surpassed the $4,000 mark.

However, meme coins seem to be the rock stars of this bull cycle. Many of them, including dogwifhat (WIF), Bonk Inu (BONK), Pepe (PEPE), Floki Inu (FLOKI), and many others, have made headlines several times over the past few months after experiencing impressive price increases. They have also gained support from major crypto exchanges and prominent figures.

While the latter have recently slowed their progress, others have entered the market in force.

An obvious example is MOTHER – a cryptocurrency announced by Australian model and rapper – Iggy Azalea. Its price reached an all-time high of around $0.23 on June 7, while the market capitalization approached $300 million. Currently, MOTHER is worth $0.19 (according to CoinMarketCap data), which represents a 150% increase on a weekly scale. The market capitalization returned to around $187 million.

The token has been the subject of some controversy, sparking reactions from well-known figures. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin was among those who criticized it, saying:

“I feel quite unhappy with the “celebrity experimentation in this cycle” so far. […] Ashton and Mila’s Stoner Cats was far more honorable than anything we’ve seen from this 2024 celebrity coin-op era — at least it had an actual, funded show.

Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer and current online influencer known for sharing his wealth and misogynistic views, also presented his own coin. The asset, ticked RNT, rose above the price of $0.05 on June 9 before falling to its current level of around $0.037.

Some might consider the emergence of the token a surprise given Tate’s previous projects. position that he “will never launch crypto.”

The best performers

Other recently emerged coins that have recently taken center stage include Beercoin (BEER) and Brett (BRETT). The first is based on the Solana ecosystem and (as expected) is associated with the alcoholic beverage.

Its price increases by 150% each week, while its market capitalization peaked at $300 million at the start of the month. Currently, the market capitalization hovers around $270 million.

BRETT’s success showed even more significant progress. At the moment, the frog-themed asset is worth around $0.17, an increase of 400% on a 30-day scale. Its market capitalization exceeded $1.7 billion, positioning it BRETT as the 65th largest cryptocurrency and the 7th in its field.
