The largest meme cryptocurrencies are once again outperforming the market benchmark, while some lesser-known cryptocurrencies are securing their place in the top league. Meanwhile, Dogecoin (DOGE) replaces Toncoin (TON) as the ninth-largest cryptocurrency and Pepe (PEPE) overtakes Polygon (MATIC).
Popcat (POPCAT) meme currency climbs into top 100, eyes $900 million cap
Popcat (POPCAT), the largest cat-themed cryptocurrency, is among the top performers among the top 100 cryptocurrencies on CoinGecko. Over the past 24 hours, the entertainment-focused cryptocurrency has gained 12.8% and nearly reached $900 million in market cap equivalent.

Popcat (POPCAT) is also a clear leader in terms of weekly performance. Over the past seven days, its price has increased by more than 80%, allowing the newcomer to enter the top 100. As a result, POPCAT’s ceiling is higher than that of veterans Neo (NEO), BitTorrent (BTT), dYdX (DYDX), retaking heavyweight Ethena (ENA), and AI major Akash Network (AKT).
Bonk (BONK) is another big winner in the meme coin sphere with its 10.4% increase overnight. Its market cap is back above $2.18 billion; the token is on the verge of overtaking Optimism (OP) and Sui (SUI) and entering the top 50 cryptos by market cap.
The largest cryptocurrencies, however, are sending mixed signals to investors despite their green positions. Some of them, including Shiba Inu (SHIB), Dogwifhat (WIF) and Book of Meme (BOME), are underperforming compared to the market benchmark.
The crypto segment’s net capitalization has increased by 3.7% over the past 24 hours, while SHIB, WIF and BOME are up by 0.5-2.5% each.
Solana and Base Meme Coins Outperform Crypto Market
Overall, the meme coin segment gained 5% overnight. However, some of its more volatile subclasses are posting more impressive gains.
Thanks to the rise of POPCAT, MEW, and MOG, the cat-themed meme coin group is up 15%. The Solana meme coin sphere is up 10%.
Thanks to the positive performance of Based Brett (BRETT), the Base meme coin group recorded 7.8% and also significantly outperformed the market.
Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency, is up 2.6%; the orange coin is trading at $66,467 after hitting a local high above $67,400.
