Helium Network’s HNT token has seen an outperforming market rally, coinciding with the growing adoption of its mobile phone service Helium Mobile.

HNT price has surged more than 40% to $5 in seven days, placing it second on the list of top-100 gainers by market value, just behind meme coin dogwifhat (WIF), according to the data source. Coingecko.Bitcoin (BTC)the largest cryptocurrency by market cap, rose 7%, as did CoinDesk Index 20 (CD20)a broad market indicator.

Helium Network is a decentralized blockchain network for the Internet of Things (IoT), allowing devices to communicate and share data via small devices called hotspots. These hotspots act as wireless gateways, incentivizing owners with HNT tokens to provide network coverage and verify connectivity.

Helium Mobile leverages the Helium network by connecting to hotspots, enabling data sharing, communication and tracking without having to rely on traditional centralized cellular networks or Wi-Fi networks.

The number of Helium Mobile subscribers, or entities that use mobile devices or sensors that communicate via the Helium network, surpassed 100,000 earlier this month. The count has increased more than 300-fold in a year, according to Helium Mobile Data.

The telephone service has published its Roadmap progress report on July 12, unveiling a pilot program with major U.S. carriers to transfer data to the Helium network.

The report also announced a licensing program to increase compatibility with third-party hardware manufacturers and OpenRoaming compatibility to expand data transfer options for hotspot owners. This will enable connectivity for Helium users and subscribers of any service provider that supports OpenRoaming.

According to Delphi Ventures founder Tom Shaughnessy Jr., Helium is a great example of how blockchain technology solves real-world problems.

“Their 5G offers better pricing for consumers than retail, as home internet resale offers a cheaper price per cell phone than a mobile plan directly with a carrier,” Shaughnessy said. he wrote on X. “Home Internet service costs $50-100 a month one time and you can resell it to many users for less each ($20 a month Helium plans) versus each person paying $50-100 for their own mobile plan. 100,000 subscribers and counting is incredible,”
