Friend.tech V2 Goes Live as Hype Grows for 100% Airdrop of FRIEND Token

As blockchain-based social app friends.tech prepares to launch its long-awaited version 2, the team said it has already taken a snapshot for the highly anticipated 100% airdrop. of his FRIEND token.

Friend.tech is a decentralized social media platform ON Basic, an Ethereum L2 incubated by Coinbase. When the social platform launched in August 2023, it generated a tons of advertising, Some disputeand was briefly one of the largest blockchain platforms.

It works by allowing “subjects,” or social media personalities, to offer “shares” to their community. Such shares grant users access to private chats, where subjects hope to release benefits and exchangeable information. But the enthusiasm has died down and so have the active users on the platform.

But commissions, trading and activity on friends.tech increased earlier this month as momentum began to build behind news that the team would soon release version 2 of the platform. At the time of writing, there is $34.4 million in total value locked (TVL) on friends.tech, according to DeFi Blade. That’s a far cry from the $52 million there was during its peak in October.

Version 2 of Friend.tech introduces several new features, including Money Club. The Money Club feature will allow communities to manage shared treasuries and mint tradable collectibles onchain, such as NFTs, meme coinsand other types of media. The platform is also launching its new points system, which will be used for airdrop, and custom curves, which allow users to create their own engagement metrics.

There will also be smaller usability updates, such as allowing individuals to customize their chat spaces aesthetically and functionally with options like polls, sweepstakes, and visual themes.

Cryptocurrency investor John Wang shared details about V2 in a Discussion on Twitter last month.

“V1 was the beta,” he wrote. “This time the FT plans to stay. You’re not positioned yet, right soon?”
