FC Barcelona will also display its first two NFTs with Johan Cruyff and Alexia Putellas at the Moco Museum in the Netherlands
On April 24th, FC Barcelona and the Moco Museum opened the exhibition where the first two NFTs in the football club’s history are on display, namely In a Way, Immortal (with Johan Cruyff) and Empowerment (dedicated to Alexia Putellas) . Now, after being so well received by the local population of Barcelona and by all the art lovers from around the world who visit the renowned museum daily, these digital works of art will also travel to Amsterdam, where they can be visited from the 30th of May. .
The first two NFTs in the history of FC Barcelona are part of the Masterpiece collection, a project promoted by Barça Vision and made up of ten items that will be presented piece by piece. Under the name ‘Masterpiece. A digital tribute to Johan Cruyff and Alexia Putellas, the famous museum will also display in Amsterdam these audiovisual pieces with which the club pays tribute to Barça’s iconic moments and people who magnify its historical legacy and heritage.
The Moco Museum is an independent facility featuring a wide range of inspiring modern, contemporary and street artworks, based in Barcelona, Amsterdam and London, opening in the coming months. Its collection includes works of art by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Kaws, Jeff Koons, Yayoi Kusama and Andy Warhol, among others, and now also by FC Barcelona.
‘The Flying Dutchman’ and women’s empowerment in sport
The first NFT in the club’s history, titled In a Way Immortal (inspired by a famous Johan Cruyff quote) recreates the late Dutch star’s legendary moment at the stadium when, on December 22, 1973, he ‘flew’ to score a Crucial goal went past Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Miguel Reina.
Barça’s second digital artwork, called Empowerment, represents Alexia Putellas’ exceptional performance in the Women’s Champions League semi-final against Wolfsburg, watched by a world record audience of 91,648. She scored two goals and went on to advocate for women’s empowerment in sport.
The exhibition of the two Blaugrana works of art at the internationally recognized Moco Museum demonstrates once again the club’s clear strategic commitment to adopting technology and innovation and, at the same time, creating unforgettable cultural moments from the past and present, with a focus particular in millennials, generation Z and similar supporters.
