Earn Free NFTs in Last Remains’ New Public Alpha Test
Last Remains Zombie Extraction Stealth Shooter Game is set to get another new alpha test on August 2nd at 10am UTC that the community can participate for free and help provide feedback on the latest updates while earning skins that can be turned into NFTs.
What’s new in this playtest?
That next playtest adds a few new features and optimizations. Among them is the addition of climbable ladders, which should give players a new way to reach certain areas, as well as making previously inaccessible spots now accessible. Boarding the helicopter is now more dangerous than ever, as you will now fall if someone or something ends up hitting you, making each match more intense until the end. To help you react better in dangerous situations, the developers have now introduced a quick weapon swap button in the game to make it easier to equip a loaded weapon faster. You can also expect the ability to toggle an auto-lock camera during combat, which can be useful when using a melee weapon. There should now be a leaderboard in the game lobby, as well as an in-game results screen to summarize your performance. As for optimizations, it is said that the attack effects, parkour system, vehicle positioning on the road, and weapon throwing logic have been improved, including sound effects for several zombies.
Outside of the game itself, the team has announced a change to how playtests are scheduled. From now on, playtests will be hosted monthly instead of every two weeks, with 24-hour Fridays. That said, while the time of the next playtest has been revealed, it was mentioned on the game’s official Discord server that it may end up changing slightly if any issues arise.
What is Last Remains?
Last Remains is a zombie battle royale that encourages stealth gameplay as you attempt to escape to safety from the infected and other players. Each match takes place in a massive modern world overrun by zombies, with 30+ players parkouring and fighting to survive in a primarily PvE-focused environment, but since only 3 survivors can leave the area via a helicopter that arrives 30-40 minutes later at a rescue point, you’ll want to be ready for some PvP action as well. And speaking of zombies, we’re not just talking about the usual humanoid infected types here – you can also encounter hulking abominations simply called Bosses, and if you’re not properly equipped, well, good luck escaping. Defeating them, however, can net you some secret rewards.
Surviving in this Web3 battle royale isn’t just about finding weapons and armor while avoiding hordes of zombies, it’s also about scavenging for resources like food and water in different buildings to keep your hunger and thirst meters in check, so there’s plenty of risk to be taken as you never know what’s waiting for you around the next corner.
The third-person stealth game also features mintable NFTs that players have a chance to find in each match. These include skins that appear to not only have a cosmetic purpose, but also bring a strategic advantage and disadvantage. In the future, it may be possible to find other types of items to mint for NFTs on Polygon using a bridge that allows you to move items from your Epic Games account to your wallet.
It’s important to note that earning free NFTs is only possible during these public alpha tests. In the future, you’ll need to own an NFT character to earn tradable assets. More on that below, but overall, aside from paying gas fees, you may want to take advantage of these playtests while they’re still available if you want to earn free NFTs.
Developer Earn Alliance has been hosting a number of public alpha testing sessions this year, where players have a limited amount of time to jump in and try out an early version of the game on the Epic Games Store while helping to provide constructive feedback and suggestions so the studio can eventually release a quality Web3 gaming experience. When the full release arrives, anyone will be able to enjoy the free-to-play title by downloading it from the Fortnite creator’s store on Windows PCs. According to the litepaper, a Mac version will also be available, and there also appear to be plans to release on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.
How to play and win at the official launch
At launch, players should be able to create guilds and compete in solo and guild-based leaderboards for rewards, with 50% of in-game revenue supposedly distributed back into players’ reward pools. There will be a limited number of free-to-play characters, and they won’t allow you to earn tradable assets, as every item found with a F2P character will be soulbound.
Anyone who wants to play and earn will need to obtain a Premium Character to progress through a 60-day seasonal battle pass. You will need to purchase a $20 Character Loot Box to obtain a playable Premium Character NFT. This Premium Character will allow players to earn premium in-game items through the battle pass, and these earned items can only be sold on the market during the duration of the battle pass. When the battle pass for that season ends, all Premium items and Characters become soulbound, but can still be used in a mini-game called Search and Rescue. However, items come in different rarities and have durability points. When an item runs out of these points, it breaks down into fragments that can be used to purchase item loot boxes. By having NFT characters that you can earn in the main game for just one season, and limiting the number of uses an NFT gear item has before it breaks, the developers aim to create a non-inflationary and sustainable Web3 game economy, and it will be interesting to see how well this economic system works when the game fully goes live.
Search & Rescue is a mobile staking game where you stake characters and skins to earn NFTs and the upcoming Zombie Token ($ZT), for which there is no TGE date available yet. With a total token supply of 1 billion, the token will be used for governance voting, to obtain discounts on market fees and fees on other on-chain resources, among other use cases. Tokenomics is still subject to change, but you can check out what is proposed at this section of the litepaper.
