Donald Trump Hosts Dinner for NFT Buyers Amid New York Trial
Donald Trump, the US presidential candidate, interrupted his trial in New York to organize a dinner for his supporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
This Wednesday night’s event is aimed at those who have purchased many of their “Mugshot Edition” NFT figures. These NFTs depict his 2023 arrest for allegedly trying to interfere with the 2020 election results.
According to According to the Axios news agency, to guarantee an invitation, dinner participants had to purchase more than 47 NFTs, priced at US$99 each. An additional pre-dinner “VIP” cocktail was reserved for those who purchased at least 100 NFTs, totaling nearly $10,000. These big buyers will also receive physical cards containing pieces of the suit and tie that Trump wore during his arrest.
Trump called the trial a “sham” and said he preferred to campaign in swing states. He is accused of falsifying business records tied to payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
The dinner underscores Trump’s continued efforts to commercially leverage his name and image during legal proceedings.
