Danger as a Wave of Crypto Influencers and Celebrity X Accounts Get Hacked — TradingView News
A slew of industry influencers and celebrities had their X accounts hacked over the weekend, selling off everything from Luna2 and ORDI to celebrity-inspired memecoins.
Among the latest victims is Gigantic-Cassocked-Rebirth – known as GCR – a pseudonymous cryptocurrency investor known for profiting from contrarian trades – who confirmed that his X account was hacked.
GCR Account
Many commented that the hacker could have used the account to trade a microcap coin, but chose to publish the two tokens instead, which led to limited gains.
“The GCR hacker tinkered hard,” crypto analyst Miles Deutscher said.
“Brother could have chosen ANY credible microcap to pump 10-20 times, but chose to use ORDI and LUNA2 for a paltry 10% wick.”
ORDI (ORDI) has already amassed a market capitalization of $856 million and, therefore, has less upside than small-cap coins.
However, the GCR hack may be just a small part of a larger attack on celebrity X accounts, the community warns.
“GCR already told us today that there is an ongoing hacking operation of large Twitter accounts,” Bitcoin developer and Ordinals commentator Udi Wertheimer revealed.
“As more and more niche celebrities pop up by the minute flipping meme coins – on a long weekend when platform engineers are absent – I advise you to be very careful.”
Rich The Kid Releases RICH Memecoin
American rapper “Rich The Kid” (Dimitri Leslie Roger)’s X account posted a link for his 2.3 million followers to purchase the new “RICH” token – which launched on Solana pump.fun.
It amassed a market capitalization of $90,000 within the first two hours of launch, data from DEX Screener shows.
No statement has been released confirming whether Rich The Kid’s X account was hacked, but the post has been deleted.
Deepfake or Caitlyn Jenner?
Around the same time, a new memecoin “JENNER” was promoted by American media personality Caitlyn Jenner’s X account, which has already amassed a market capitalization of $4.7 million since it was launched around four hours ago, according to DEX Screener.
Many industry experts also believe the posts are the result of a hacker. This one, however, was more convincing as it crosses two social media platforms and also includes several videos showing Jenner ensuring the crypto token and posts are authentic.
