The founders of Rabbit R1, an alleged smartphone competitor, are also behind the launch of a failed NFT project that they are allegedly hiding from the web.

The $200 r1 bunny was created by CEO Jesse Lyu and invoiced as the ‘future of human-machine interface’. However, its sleek design and cool scrolling weren’t enough to attract techies and the device was heavily criticized at launch.

Now, the r1 bunny’s negative reception has drawn attention to Lyu’s previous work on a failed NFT project called Gamma. Lyu was CEO of Gama’s parent company, Cyber ​​Manufacturing Co., before renamed to Rabbit Inc. in October 2023.

Gama claimed to be a ‘premium’ space-themed 3D platformer that incorporated NFTs and was launched in 2022 as the metaverse of the future. However, just two years later, the Gama.io domain no longer works and the website can only be visa via the Wayback Machine Internet Archive.

A post on X by AI advocate Andy Parackal claims that Gama’s team has deleted all YouTube videos involving Rabbit’s CEO. Fortunately, Parackal it says he recorded one of Lyu’s interviews before it was deleted.

He said: “We have the entire video; these guys are total crooks. I’ve been saying since day one that these guys are incomplete… They’re trying to delete everything involving Gama’s NFTs.”

The Verge also reported the Rabbit R1’s operating system isn’t as exclusive to apps as Rabbit Inc. In fact, someone is supposedly running the bunny launcher as an android app on a google pixel 6a.

In response, Rabbit told The Verge, “rabbit r1 is not an Android app… Rabbit OS and LAM run in the cloud with very custom AOSP and low-level firmware modifications, so a local pirated APK without the proper OS and the cloud endpoints will not work. be able to access our service. Rabbit OS is customized for r1 and we do not support third-party clients.”
