Caitlyn Jenner Promotes Crypto Tokens, Denies Account Hacking
JENNER generated $28.3 million in volume within an hour and a half of launch.
Caitlyn Jenner, a former athlete and media personality, found herself at the center of a heated controversy after her X (formerly Twitter) account promoted a cryptocurrency via token launchpad Pump.fun.
On Sunday afternoon, Jenner’s X account posted a link to a Solana-based token called JENNER characterized by caption “Make America great again and we love cryptocurrencies,” along with a photo of him with former US President Donald Trump.
This has left the crypto community baffled and interrogation the legitimacy of the assignment.
Despite the doubts, the token quickly gained traction, generating $28.3 million in volume in 90 minutes to reach a market capitalization of $8.5 million.
Facing skepticism, Jenner’s account denied any hacking in subsequent tweets. “Nothing was violated,” she said. A later video reiterated that the token was “real.”
Same day, Trump expressed his strong support for cryptocurrency on Truth Social, stating that he is “very positive and open-minded towards cryptocurrency companies and everything about this new and thriving industry.”
Continuous doubts
Many X users suggested that Jenner’s social media had been compromised, speculating that the video may have been created using AI technology.
“This is NOT Caitlyn Jenner, and this is artificial intelligence,” tweeted user @Captl_G. “Look at the movement of the eyebrows. You will be drawn into the most iconic rugpulls to hit SOL.
Another user, @cyborgnftsechoed the concern, tweeting: “AI is getting scary.”
The token launch followed the X account of well-known cryptocurrency influencer, Gigantic Rebirth (GCR). violated on May 26th. GCR’s account was requisitioned to promote the ORDI and LUNA2 tokens, only to get a paltry 10% wick on ORDI.
Dispute
However, crypto influencer CryptoRoxo suggested that the JENNER token likely came from Jenner’s circle, but speculated that the token was invented by a shady “middleman.”
“It has never been hacked,” CryptoRoxo claimed. “His team was socially designed by a guy called Sahil. He acted as a “middleman” to launch the token for Caitlyn as the team was unfamiliar with cryptocurrencies.”
Crypto influencer Roxo claimed that after facilitating the token launch and securing Jenner’s promotion, Sahil immediately sold all tokens from Jenner’s entire token stash, which Sahil held on his behalf.
“Caitlyn’s manager seems clueless. He mentioned on Spaces that Sahil holds all the tokens for them,” he added. “Actually, if you look at the chain, you can see that he has downloaded everything. The team has been deceived and seems not to know that they have been defrauded. The team of Caitlyn still has the scam tweet asking people to send tokens.”
Roxo also claimed that Sahil was behind five “influencer carpets” in the past week, including tokens associated with rappers Soulja Boy and Rich The Kid and models Ivana Doll and NormieKazumi.
Meanwhile, on the Polymarket predictions platform, bettors place their bets 94% certainty that Jenner’s X account has not been compromised.
Jenner’s Instagram account continues to share the link to the token, matching the tweets on his X account.
Jenner did not immediately respond to The Defiant’s request for comment.
