Competitors to Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Dogecoin (DOGE) on the Solana (SOL) and Base (BASE) blockchains are under pressure as Bitcoin (BTC) has fallen below $60,000. Over the past seven days, the Base meme crypto scene has lost more than a third of its value.

Meme Core Parts Segment Loses 24% in 24 Hours

The meme cryptocurrencies segments Base (BASE) and Solana (SOL) are once again among the altcoin categories most affected by a massive surge in crypto prices. Over the past 24 hours, even-on-Base (BASE) coins have seen nearly 24% of their capitalization erased.

Among all meme Base (BASE) coins, the largest losses are recorded by low-cap assets. However, the flagship coins of the Base (BASE) crypto ecosystem – BRETT, DEGEN, HIGHER – also saw declines of 10-15%.

Cat-themed meme coins represent the fifth most affected category on CoinGecko, with 17% lost overnight. However, its leaders – Cat In The Dog World (MEW) and Mog Coin (MOG) – recorded tiny losses of 3-4% and therefore even outperformed the crypto market as a whole.

The Solana (SOL) meme coin ecosystem lost 15% in 24 hours, with leaders WIF, BONK and BOME erasing only 1-6% of their prices.

As covered by U.Today previously, meme coins on Solana (SOL) and Base (BASE) were also affected by last weekend’s price drop.

Crypto Liquidations Nearly $400 Million

Over the past 24 hours, the total capitalization of cryptocurrency markets has fallen by 3.9%. Bitcoin (BTC), the flagship cryptocurrency, lost 5.7% of its value.

This surge can be attributed to the end of Binance’s CZ trial and the paltry start of crypto-based spot ETFs in Hong Kong.

As a result, many Bitcoin (BTC) and altcoin futures traders were liquidated over the past 24 hours. More than $390 million in positions, mostly long, have been wiped out, CoinGlass data shows watch.

Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) are responsible for $250 million of this sum.
