Avion Tequila Mints 100 NFTs to Launch Extra Añejo

Avion Tequila is in partnership with BlockBarthe leading blockchain-backed spirits marketplace, to release just one hundred bottles of its latest añejo extra in NFT format.
The new expression, dubbed Avion Lucky Liquid, began aging in a Mexican Cabernet Sauvignon barrel nine years ago, when the term “NFT” was nothing more than a random trio of letters. According to the brand, the single barrel was later forgotten deep in the Avion Tequila cellars. Nearly a decade later, it was “fortunately rediscovered” and given a modern reimagining.
The $495 bottle is packed with luxurious embellishments. Inscribed in golden letters you will find a cryptic string of hexadecimal, the programming language used to encrypt the Lucky Liquid NFT.
The reddish tequila is said to balance aromas of cocoa and candied fruit with smooth flavors of peach, cranberry and nuts. However, as with all products in the growing spirits/NFT genre, the liquid itself likely takes a back seat to the crypto angle.
Each bottle of Lucky Liquid is kept in a warehouse in Singapore. Buyers can leave it in storage – where it will hopefully accumulate value before being resold on the secondary market – or redeem their NFT for a physical bottle. BlockBar’s investor-oriented fan base will likely choose the latter option.

As paradoxical as spirits-based NFTs may seem, the concept has grown like virtual wildfire in recent years. BlockBar has emerged as the preferred platform for most brands.
Early adopters to the market include 1800 Tequila, Johnnie Walker and Glenfiddich Scotch. Browsing the site, you’ll find eye-catching bottles, often embellished with gold, selling in the $100 to $10,000 range. Certain brands have taken the concept further; In 2022, Hennessy made headlines with the announcement of a $226,500 NFT tied to its exclusive Hennessy-8 release.
