Akneye opens NFT exhibition at the Venice Art Biennale
Promotion: Armenian Art Platform Akneye collaborated with non-fungible token platform ftNFT to launch an exhibition during Venice Art Biennale where sculptures by 21 different artists are displayed alongside their NFT equivalents.
Located near the city’s Arsenale, the exhibition that mixes physical and digital work features Akneye’s unique eye sculptures. The pieces are hand-painted by different artists from Armenia and elsewhere.
O NFT The platform operates as a marketplace for people to buy and sell NFTs – unique digital assets created through blockchain technology.
The Phygital Space exhibition is on display during the Venice Art Biennale
Curated by art director Anastasia Dawson, the exhibition includes contributions from the Georgian painter Elene MetreveliArmenian-Syrian artist Stephany Sanossian and London painter Larry Amponsah.
As part of the showcase, eye sculptures customized by each artist are displayed alongside NFT digital representations of the pieces. They are experienced as dynamic works of digital art using interactive LED screens and motion displays.
“Phygital Spaces is not just any digital space; is a vision of the future of art, where boundaries are blurred and new connections are formed between the artist, the viewer and the medium,” he said Akneye founder Vigen Badalyan.
“Akneye by ftNFT is a testament to the power of collaboration across cultures and disciplines,” added Dawson. “It embodies our mission to innovate in the art world while respecting traditional languages.”
As part of the Venice Biennale, participating artists will also create live art on-site at the Phygital Space until November 24th.
